As stated in the Wellington Colorado Main Streets Program (WMSP) vision we seek to ‘revitalize the downtown district within the context of its history and future’. In light of this, as well as our strong desire to celebrate the historical culture of downtown Wellington, we’re excited to announce that beginning in April 2016 the WMSP in combination with the Wellington Chamber of Commerce will begin working with Tatatanka Historical Associates Inc. to complete an historic inventory and survey of downtown Wellington.
Wendy DuBord, WMSP Director, successfully wrote a grant to History Colorado garnering $15,000 for the project which will be matched by $5000 of WMPS funds to complete the project.
• WMSP will begin contacting businesses within the next 30 days
• The survey will take 12 months to complete
• Public meetings will be held at the start and finish of the project
• The final report will be available at the Wellington Library, Town Hall, and the WMSP office.
