NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION(Unofficial) A Municipal Election will be held in the Town of Wellington, Colorado on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, between the hours of seven o’clock a.m. (7:00 a.m.) and seven o’clock p.m. (7:00 pm.) at the Wilson Leeper Center, 3800 Wilson Avenue, Wellington, Larimer County, Colorado. To be eligible to vote in this election, you must have attained eighteen (18) years of age on March 1, 2010. Be a citizen of the United States. Have resided in the Town of Wellington for 30 days Be registered to vote in Larimer County. The last day to register to vote in the Municipal Election is Monday March 8, 2010. Town Officers to be elected are three (3) Trustees and (1) Mayor. The three candidates for Trustee with the highest vote total shall receive a four year term and the candidate for Mayor with the highest vote total shall receive a four year term. Nomination petitions are available at the Town Hall at 3735 Cleveland Ave. Wellington, Colorado as of Tuesday, February 16, 2010. The last day nomination petitions for the Municipal Election may be filed with the Town Clerk is 5 p.m., Friday March 5, 2010. Each registered elector signing a nomination petition MUST include STREET ADDRESS along with their signature. A registered elector may sign one (1) nomination petition for EACH separate office to be filled. To become a candidate, at least ten (10) registered electors must sign the petition and add his or her place of residence. No write-in vote for any municipal office shall be counted unless an affidavit of intent has been filed with the clerk by the person whose name is written in by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

    The Town of Wellington was established in 1905.
  • Wellington sits at the intersection of Interstate 25 and Colorado Highway 1 in the northeast corner of Larimer County, Colorado, at an elevation of 5,201 feet. Twenty-six miles north is Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ten miles south is Fort Collins. Denver is only 60 miles south down I-25.
  • Situated at the northern tip of Colorado's front range.
  • The majestic Rocky Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop to the West. Vast acres of productive farm and grazing land surround the town. You’ll find state wildlife preserves to the east and south.
  • Wellington’s climate offers four distinct seasons. Located in a semi-arid zone, the Average annual precipitation is 13.6 inches and the growing season is 145 days. Relative humidity averages about 35 percent year-round. Summers are warm and have pleasant, cool nights. Occasionally, a cold winter storm keeps people indoors, but snow often melts as fast as it falls. The area is smog-free.
