Disposable wipes, even those that claim to be flushable, should be thrown into the trash rather than down the toilet. Wipes can cause costly sewer blockages, backups, overflows, and damage other critical pumps and wastewater treatment equipment. With an increased use of disinfecting wipes and other products such as tissues, paper towels or napkins, it is important to keep these items out of the wastewater system.
